Dorris Learning Center is a home school group offering quality classes for children in the 9-13 age group. The owner/primary teacher has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Central Missouri State University. We are conveniently located on Potranco Road in San Antonio, TX.

Curriculum

We feature Bookshark, Real Science Odyssey, Saxon Math, and teacherspayteachers.com curriculum while offering many creative activities and educational games.

Knowledge

The owner/primary teacher is a former public school 1st grade teacher and has a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Central Missouri State University.

From time-to-time, we invite special guests to create exciting interactive learning activities for the children and we encourage parents to lead classes in their specialties.

Dorris Learning Center strives to provide quality education in a structured environment. We focus on the age groups of our children to ensure a productive environment and foster interactive relationships between homeschoolers. We are conveniently located on Potranco Road in San Antonio, TX.

Our Focus is Quality Education

The owner/primary teacher is a former 1st grade teacher with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has over 20 years of experience in child care and education. She's a graduate from the University of Central Missouri, a university that prides itself on creating some of the best teachers in the country.

June Camps

At Dorris Learning Center (DLC) Homeschool Group, we are offering the following camps for June. All camps are Monday-Thursday 10:00-2:00.

  • Home Economics

    June 3 - June 6
  • Camp Fee: $35.00 per child
  • We will be making enough lunch for all students in class to eat each day, but they can still bring individual snacks and lunch if they choose
  • Small sewing projects
  • Embroidery projects
  • Making, baking, and decorating cookies
  • Cooking & Menu Planning
  • Around the World

    June 10 - June 13
  • Camp Fee: $25.00 per child
  • Pick a country and research it
  • Create a display board
  • Research at least 1 food, art, game, etc. unique to the country and make it
  • Create a model of the country’s flag, using different types of art/craft supplies
  • Arts & Crafts

    June 17 - June 21
  • Camp Fee: $35.00 per child
  • All supplies will be laid out at different stations for the students to create art. The following are different art options we will have available:

    Watercolors
    Paint: Variety of medias
    Paper–styled crafts
    Clay
    Paper: Vary of sizes, thickness, & colors
    Drawing: Markers, Colored pencils, crayons, etc.
    Tie-Dye
    Other small DIY projects

July Camps

At Dorris Learning Center (DLC) Homeschool Group, we are offering the following camps for July. All camps are Monday-Thursday 10:00-2:00.

  • American Historical Trivia

    July 1 - July 4
  • Camp Fee: $15.00 per child
  • We will use games, flashcards, worksheets and other fun methods to learn a variety of American trivia, including, but not limited to:

    Past presidents
    State birds, flowers, flags, capitals, etc.
    Early American Exploration
    Landmarks & US Geography
  • Creative Writing

    July 8 - July 11
  • Camp Fee: $15.00 per child
  • Look at different styles of poetry & short stories
  • Create poems and/or stories & illustrate them
  • Edit and revise stories
  • Research different ways to present and publish written work
  • Experiments

    July 15 - July 18
  • Camp Fee: $25.00 per child
  • BookShark, Level G curriculum
  • All experiments are related to biology
  • 3-4 experiments will be set up each day
  • The students will be able to choose which experiments they would like to try each day
  • There will be some reading each day – whole group, small groups, and individually
  • Each student will have data sheets to fill out for each experiment, but they can choose to work the experiment with a partner, small group, or individually
